Pumpkin Patches, School Festival, & Pumpkin Carving

October has been such a fun month! We have enjoyed the cooler weather and celebrating all things Fall!

At the beginning of October Ava went on her first field trip to a pumpkin patch in Coppell. Connor and I went with her and I think Connor had just as much fun if not more than Ava!

Ava and her friend Natalie
It was a very cold morning (first one of the season) but the kids didn't seem to mind. I took more pictures of Ava and her friends but they must have been deleted by accident because I can't find them. :(

They did relay races with pumpkins, learned about pumpkins from Farmer Joe, had a scavenger hunt in the pumpkins, and listened to a story.

I was shocked that Connor sat with the other kids the entire time Farmer Joe was talking about pumpkins. It helped that he had a little pumpkin to hold onto and a snack.

Lyla, Ava, and Connor

Other than sitting for 5 minutes this little guy was ALL OVER the place! I just let him go and have fun exploring in all the pumpkins.

Haha, I don't know how or why this started but he was squeezing the pumpkins and making this face. Does this face look familiar Mom and Mimi? When I was his age they would say "squeeze it" and this is exactly what I would do. Almost positive I have never taught him this. He is my child in every way!

Had to throw these few pictures in of tickles with daddy to capture some of our family moments at home.

We have made up something we call "tickle pinchers" with our hands and we tickle each other. Daddy is usually the target of the baby tickle pinchers and it is so funny.

Connor loves wearing Ava's cowboy boots around the house

We normally don't play naked but for some reason this night they did!

One Sunday afternoon we walked around another pumpkin patch close to our house.

Ava couldn't wait for the Fall Festival at her school. Since Connor refused to wear the adorable monkey costume that Vaune let me borrow (thank goodness I borrowed) we had to improvise with this football player costume. Thank you Gigi for the jersey!

Ava with her friends Natalie and Peyton in their classroom before the Fall Festival. It was also Open House so we got to see all the fun things she has been doing in school.

They are the Super Hero room and the teachers took pictures of the kids dressed as super heroes and have them all around the room. :)

I took a few pictures of some of the artwork and pictures the teachers had hung around the room

Another fun fall tradition is for Ava and Daddy to carve a pumpkin. She came up with her own design, a flower, and drew it on a piece of paper for daddy to try and copy.

She loves to get the gooey stuff out of the pumpkin. Little brother wasnt so sure.

"Look buddy, do you want to touch the inside of the pumpkin?"

Great job, Ava and Daddy!

Soccer

When we asked Ava what extra curricular activity she wanted to do this fall she said soccer so we signed her up for the youth league at the YMCA. She loved kicking the soccer ball outside and running so we knew this would be the perfect sport for her to try.

Her team name is the Monkeys (voted on by the kids) and they have practice every Tuesday and games every Saturday.

Here are some pictures from her first game. They didn't have their game tshirts ready yet so they wore these yellow jerseys instead.

I was so anxious to see how she would do in a game setting and I just prayed that more than anything she would have fun and want to play.

This is her coach, Coach Alyssa.

She definitely is not as aggressive about getting to the ball and kicking it, like I thought she would be, but she does some kicks in here and there and absolutely loves to play. Unlike some of her other teammates who don't want to go in the game, she is always ready to go in (even if it means mostly running with the pack ;).

Little brother has fun at the games too!

With each game she is getting better and better and we couldn't be more proud of her good attitude and determination. I love watching her play!
