Virginia Beach Family Trip

At the end of July we went to Virginia Beach for a Seamans' Family reunion. The Seamans' family is a big one and unfortunately everyone lives in different states. Every other year they get together for a family vacation and we were excited to finally be able to join in on the fun. They rented a large house close to the beach that held all 26 of us. We have only seen many of the Seamans' family members maybe twice since we have been married so I was looking forward to getting to know everyone a little bit more this trip and meet a few I hadn't met before. With two young children and a house with 2 sets of stairs, it was a little more difficult to visit as much as I would have liked but it was still fun nonetheless. The kids had a great time at the beach as well!

We had two flights there and back (one short and one long flight) and considering we were flying during nap time for C and we were on an airplane way too long for a typical toddler to handle, both kids did fairly well.

Killing time in the airport

God was really looking out for us when there happened to be an open seat next to Mikey and Connor. He really was too big to sit on our laps.

The next day, after a trip to the grocery store, we went to the beach. Ava had actually been there longer with Papa and Gramielle and then Connor, Mikey, and I joined them later.

She loved digging in the sand but looking for shells was her favorite

Just like our last beach trip in Corpus, Connor wanted to go straight into the water.

There was lots of foos ball playing

We set out a crab trap by the house but we never caught any. :( (aparently they like chicken legs....or maybe not!)

Connor was a happy guy with the ladder balls

We actually didn't spend much time playing in the water or the sand. Most of our time on the beach was spent walking around and looking for shells.

There were jelly fish like these all over the beach that we had to watch out for.

Connor got lots of lovin' from Papa

There was lots of game playing

Another walk on the beach in our pjs after breakfast.

Ava wanted us to take a picture in this big hole someone had dug in the sand

Always on the momma's hip. Carrying around 30 lbs. is always a good workout.

One afternoon we walked around The Boardwalk. (Notice both kids rubbing their eyes. They had a nap in the car but aparently not long enough)

We ate ice cream at Ben and Jerry's. yumm!

We got a few souveniers and did lots of walking

Holding both of my babies. It was a lot harder than it looked.

I would hold them both all the time if I could. Love Love Love them!!

This is how Connor gets carried sometimes too. That's what hips are for right?!

On our way back to the beach house we stopped at a state park where the "First Landing" by Captain John Smith occured.

We spent a lot of time playing on the porch

All 4 of us were in the same room but the kids slept great! Well, we didn't lay Ava down for a nap at all (even though she needed naps more than ever before). We knew that it was pretty much a guarantee she would wake Connor up so we just layed her down early every night after Connor had gone to sleep. And, I may or may not have had to lay down with her every night until she falled asleep to make sure she didn't do anything to wake up her brother. (those friends of mine that know Ava's inability to fall asleep with other kids in the room can understand) BUT, once they were both asleep they slept through the night and no one woke anybody else up. Success in my book.

It was so nice to have a pool at the beach house for us to swim in.

And paddle board in, if you choose.
I actually tried it too and it was fun and surprisingly easy.

Ava and Mikey's cousin's daughter (second cousin?) , Alyssa, had a lot of fun together.

We weren't so lucky with an extra seat on the way back home but Connor did fine as long as we handed him food or different toys. Ava is the best airplane traveler! We never have to worry about her so it was nice for both of us to focus our energy on keeping Connor happy.

These sticky frogs were a life saver!

This was during our 2 hour layover before our 3 hour flight. Fun times! :0

And here is a group picture of the Seamans Crew. It was a great trip!
