This week we saw the craniofacial specialist so that he could check to make sure Ava's head was forming correctly. I was so worried that he was going to tell me she had to wear a helmet because it was misshaped. I'm a first time mom so I'm allowed to be a little paranoid. He had nothing but good news for us. He said that her plagiocephaly (misshaped head) was the mildest case he has ever seen. I felt like we were totally wasting his time after he said that. He usually deals with much more severe problems. I am sure he talked to his nurse after I left and they were laughing saying "typical first time mom, worrying about everything". I was more than thrilled to hear that she will be fine and that her head and face will even out more as she gets older. I had mentioned in my last post that we are going to have a physical therapist come to work with Ava. A therapist from ECI came to our house this week to meet Ava and have us fill out paperwork. She will come back soon to do an evaluation of her and then write up goals for her. For all my teacher friends, it's kind of like an IEP but I think it is called an IDP instead. After that is done a therapist will come once a week to work with Ava and show us a few things that we can do to help improve her muscle tone since she is tight all over not just her neck. So, we have covered every angle in helping her. I feel much better about everything.
We are excited about the three day weekend! No plans but to just hang out and enjoy some family time. Ava and I might drag daddy to the mall so I can use up my gift cards I got at Christmas. It's fun being able to shop for normal clothes again!

Ava LOVES being on her changing table. It is where she talks and smiles the most!

This turquoise outfit is so cute on her. My mom would be proud...it was a $3.99 find at Old Navy!

Mikey likes to hold Ava when he comes home from work. Here they are awake.

About 5 minutes later I noticed they were both asleep.

Pretty girl

Our new obsession, sucking fists.

This picture is too cute. I found these two in the garage one evening breaking down the boxes.

Yay! What a great report Vaughanie! I am so relieved and happy for you : ). I love how they both found their hands and fists too, isn't it so cute?
jack had to see a neurosurgeon for torticollis and misshappen head, too. the specialist basically thought our pediatrician was overreacting, too. it was very scary, even for a second time mommy! glad she's doing well!
