Daddy/Daughter Ball

What happens when you hand a little girl, who is obsessed with princesses, a random invitation and you say it's for a ball?? You better find a way to take her to the ball! This became Mikey's mission when he quickly realized that his little girl was going to hold him to it. I kept thinking about what homecoming or prom they could crash together so that she could go to the "ball" her daddy had mistakingly implanted in her mind. We saw an ad for a Daddy Daughter Dance at Bent Tree Bible Church and knew it would be perfect!

Mikey made her a new invitation and handed it to her after her nap. She was thrilled!

After a quick trip to the park after naptime we headed home so this fairy godmother could change Ava into a princess.

She picked out a purple shirt, purple tie, and blue necklace for daddy to wear to the ball. She told him that "he looked so handsome and that everyone was going to love his outfit!".

I wanted to go so badly so I could experience it with her but no moms or sons were allowed so Connor and I stayed behind.

After a few pictures they were off on their way. I waited patiently for all the pictures that Mikey sent me by text of their evening!

Before the ball they had a special dinner at "chicken fil a"

Mikey and I were both expecting their time at the ball to be brief do to lack of activities but he was pleasantly surprised. He said there must have been about 1000 dads and daughters there! We had no idea it would be that big or be as much fun as it was! He said he would do it again every weekend if they had it!

Ava got her nails painted....

Made lots of crafts and played games.....

Did some dancing and hula hooping....

Ate cookies, drank lemonade, and took some much needed breaks....(just look at how exhausted she looks!)

Took some pictures in between by the baptizing pool....

And loved every minute with her handsome prince. :)

This will definitely become a yearly tradition for these two!!

1st dentist visit

My baby girl went to the dentist for the first time yesterday. She doesn't  have many milestones these days so I made sure to bring my camera to document the event.

I actually made an appointment for her over 6 months ago but when the day of her appointment rolled around I realized we hadn't added her to our dental insurance yet! Oops! I cancelled and rescheduled once she was added and yesterday was the big day! We talked about what they were going to do and she watched a video on the dentist's website about what to expect on her first visit. She couldn't have been more excited.

Dr. Train is a pediactric dentist so the waiting room was full of fun stuff to play on like this horse and carriage.

Ahh, she is getting so big! I was so proud of how brave and go with the flow she was. She hopped right in this blue chair and waited patiently for the hygenist.

She wore these cool pink sunglasses so the bright light wouldn't bother her eyes. Her hygenist, Janie, was explaining to her what she was going to do.

I didn't prepare her for the teeth scraping. :O I HATE that part of going to the dentist. She didn't flinch or seem to bothered by it though. Tough girl.

The suction straw was another fun surprise. Once she got the hang of it I think she thought it was pretty cool.

Little brother was a quiet observer even though we woke him up mid nap and he wasn't feeling very well.

I think the hardest part of all was staying still while she had that uncomfortable plastic in her mouth during her xrays. (Seriously, can't they make those things any more comfortable?!) No surprise, she was a champ and they were impressed she was able to keep everything in place and get good x rays on the 1st try.
I didn't get a picture of her dentist, Dr. Train, but she was super sweet. Ava liked her and the experience so much she told me when we got home that she wanted to be a dentist. I support that!

Ms. Janie and Ava

The dentist showed me her xrays before we left and said that it looked like one of her permanent teeth (that you can see below the gums on the xray) looks like it might come in crooked and that she might be an early candidate for braces. :/ It might straighten out as it comes through but we will just have to keep an eye on it. She does have at least 2-3 years before she loses any teeth though.

Ava's last day of school was Thursday. It was a great school year and we are so glad that we decided to put her in school. She learned so much, made lots of friends, and was always excited to go. We look forward to next school year but till then we will enjoy our summer together that will be filled with lots of fun activities!
